Texas Rangers Lead Murder Investigation After Man Found Dead in Tulia Home
TULIA, Texas (KFDA) — Authorities have identified 39-year-old Kavin L. Powell, Sr., as the man discovered deceased inside his residence in Tulia on Monday morning, prompting an active homicide probe.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Powell, a resident of Tulia, was found dead at his home on South Briscoe Avenue.
Responders from the Tulia Police Department, Texas Rangers, and Swisher County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene around 7:50 a.m. after receiving a call.
DPS officials confirmed the incident is being treated as an ongoing murder investigation. Any evidence gathered will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for further action.
As of December 16, 2025, limited details have been released, and no suspects have been named publicly.
