In Loving Memory of Kavin L. Powell, Sr.
TULIA, Texas — The Tulia community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of 39-year-old Kavin L. Powell, Sr., a lifelong resident known for his ties to this close-knit Panhandle town.
Kavin was found deceased in his home on South Briscoe Avenue on the morning of December 15, 2025. Emergency responders, including Tulia Police, Texas Rangers, and Swisher County Sheriff’s deputies, arrived at the residence around 7:50 a.m.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
