In Loving Memory of Duane Dirmeyer: A Lifelong Farmer, Devoted Family Man, and Proud Buckeye

The small community of Dola, Ohio, is heartbroken over the peaceful passing of Duane Dirmeyer at the age of 70.

Duane passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 6, 1955, to the late Lauren and Dorothy (Eibling) Dirmeyer in Dola, he lived a full life rooted in the land he cherished.

A proud Ohio State University alumnus from the legendary Woody Hayes era, Duane bled scarlet and gray, carrying that Buckeye spirit throughout his life.

Farming was Duane’s passion from the tender age of 4, when he helped his father drive the grain truck down the fields. He went on to farm his own land with dedication and pride. He also served his community faithfully as a Washington Township Trustee for many years.

On August 4, 1990, Duane married the love of his life, Penny Battles, who survives him in Dola. He was an extraordinarily proud and loving father to his sons, Nathan (Wendy) Dirmeyer and Matthew (Lauren) Dirmeyer, both of Dola. Also surviving are his brother, David (Chris) Dirmeyer of Sarasota, Florida; nephews Devin (Lauren) Dirmeyer and Drew (Felicia) Dirmeyer, both of Sarasota, Florida.

Duane’s legacy is one of hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family—he was the kind of man who poured his heart into everything he did.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Dola Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Gregg King. Friends and family may visit from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Monday at Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridgeport Church. Online condolences can be shared at pricefh.net.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Penny, Nathan, Matthew, and the entire Dirmeyer family. Duane’s memory will live on in the fields he farmed, the community he served, and the hearts he touched. Rest in peace, Duane. 🕊️
