Charleston Community Mourns the Loss of Rontavious Clark in Fatal Shooting

The small community of Charleston, Missouri, in Mississippi County is grappling with grief following the homicide of 29-year-old local resident Rontavious Clark.

Early Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025, around 1 a.m., the Charleston Department of Public Safety received reports of gunshots in the 300 block of Oliver Street. Officers responded promptly and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Rontavious Clark of Charleston, was immediately transported by ambulance to a medical facility. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Authorities, led by Charleston Department of Public Safety Director Robert Hearnes, are actively investigating the incident as a homicide. Details remain limited as the probe continues.
